Research Fellow & PhD Candidate

  • PhD in Psychology (current)
  • BPsychSc (Hons) (2019)

I am a final year PhD Candidate and Research Fellow in the Cognitive Neuroscience Unit at Deakin University. My research focuses on the involvement of white matter microstructural changes in persistent cognitive and emotional symptoms in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) in their chronic phase of injury. My overall aim is to understand the biological mechanisms of persistent symptoms after TBI by using advanced diffusion MRI analysis techniques (e.g., fixel-based analysis), with a specific focus on the role of limbic system pathways . Additionally, my work also aims to understand the dynamics of cognitive and emotional problems in the daily lives of TBI patients, using ecological momentary assessment (EMA). I also have a keen interest in understanding biological mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration in patients with neurological disorders (e.g., dementia) and injury (e.g., chronic traumatic encephalopathy).

I have experience teaching and marking for several undergraduate Psychology units at Deakin University, including:

  • Cognitive Neuroscience
  • Psychopathology
  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Research Methods
  • Cognitive Psychology
